HOME MADE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE
Weekend breakfasts—the aromas, toast, coffee, and home made sausage. This easy recipe makes enough for this Saturday morning, and enough to freeze for the next weekend breakfast. A few simple ingredients, a gentle mixing with your hands—then shape into 20 sausage patties. Freeze the extras on a paper lined flat tray, then store in a sealed freezer bag.
- 2 lbs lean ground pork
- 2 tblsp garlic powder
- 2 tblsp onion powder
- Minced fresh sage, to taste—or 1-2 tsp dried sage powder
- Red pepper flakes, to taste
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tblsp maple syrup
Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix gently with your hands—just until everything is incorporated. Form about 20 balls and press into small patties. Place in single layer in a heated heavy pan—cook about 4 minutes per side over medium heat. Keep warm under foil in low oven, while eggs, toast and home fries cook.
