Sandy’s advice to her 18 year old self: Two pieces of advice. The first is go get a lawyer to sue SUNY for not getting into the school you really wanted. I was rejected from a SUNY school and found out years later that they had a quota against girls. The second is ignore everything you were told and go with your heart. Then take a statistics course so that you can major in psychology at Duquesne. I was scared to take a statistics course and never did – therefore ruining my chances to get an advanced degree in psychology. Never let your fears hold you back I learned later and go by that rule.

  1. Not exactly what I said.
Some background to those statements: I was rejected from a SUNY school and found out years later that they had a quota against girls. Hence my comment about getting an attorney.
The second comment I stand by.
The last comment reflects back on the second comment – I was scared to take a statistics course and never did – therefore ruining my chances to get an advanced degree in psychology. Never let your fears hold you back I learned later and go by that rule.

    1. Thanks for the update, Sandy.
I’ll say it again, because you said it so well. Never let your fears hold you back!
      Best,
